কানাডায় নবাগত সকল জকিগঞ্জবাসীকে অভিবাসন সংক্রান্ত (ইমিগ্রেশন, স্বাস্থ্য, শিক্ষা, চাকুরী,বাসস্থান) পরামর্শ ও সর্বাত্বক সেবা দান এবং কানাডায় বসবাসরত সকল জকিগঞ্জবাসীর সামাজিক, অর্থনৈতিক ও নাগরিক দায়িত্ব ও কর্তব্য সম্মন্ধে ওয়াকিফহাল ও প্রয়োজনীয় সাহা সহােগিতার উদ্দেশ্যে জকিগঞ্জ এসোসিয়েশন অব কানাডা ইনক এর পদযাত্রা শুরু হয়।
একটি অলাভজনক প্রতিষ্ঠান হিসেবে ১৫ই অক্টোবর ২০২২ সনে ইহা কানাডার ফেডারেল জুরিসডিকসনে নিবন্ধিত করা হয়। কানাডার যেকোনো প্রদেশে বসবাসরত যেকোনো জকিগঞ্জবাসী এই এসোসিয়েশনের সদস্য ও এর কর্মকান্ডে অংশগ্রহণ করতে পারবেন।
এসোসিয়েশনের কর্মকান্ড তদারক ও পরিচালনার জন্য ১৫ সদস্য বিশিষ্ট একটি পরিচালনা কমিটি গঠিত হয়েছে।
অনুমোদিত গঠণতন্ত্র অনুায়ী এসোসিয়েশনের সকল কার্যকলাপ পরিচালিত হয়।
History of Zakiganj
The name Zakiganj was derived from Shah Zaki, a pir who established a khanqah on the banks of the Kushiyara River. A ganj, Perso-Bengali suffix meaning ‘marketplace’ or ‘neighborhood’, was then set up around the khanqah.
Zakiganj was established as a thana in 1947 and was previously a part of the greater Karimganj district. Zakiganj became an upazila on 1 August 1983.
A 17th century stone inscription was found in the Ghayebi Dighi Masjid in Barothakuri and it is now in display at the Bangladesh National Museum.[4]
Geography & Demographics
Zakiganj is located at 24.8778°N 92.3722°E. It has 29836 households and total area 287.33 km2 (110.94 sq mi).
It is situated on the north bank of Kushiyara River, opposite Karimganj town of Assam, India.
As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Zakiganj has a population of 174,038. Males constitute 50.55% of the population, and females 49.45%. This Upazila’s eighteen up population is 85935. Zakiganj has an average literacy rate of 30.8% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.[6] Religions: Muslim 81.48%, Hindu 18.47%, Buddhist, Christian and others 0.05%.

Administration
Zakiganj Upazila is divided into Zakiganj Municipality and nine union parishads: Barahal, Barathakuri, Birorsri, Kajalshar, Khaskanakpur, Kolachora, Manikpur, Sultanpur, and Zakiganj. The union parishads are subdivided into 108 mauzas and 278 villages.[7]
Zakiganj Municipality is subdivided into 9 wards and 25 mahallas.
